The Agency for Private asked not to use matricular colors, CEC: We will examine it carefully

In the letter he sent to the CEC, the AIP mentioned cases when this case was handled by the Constitutional Court of other countries, under which the marking of visible voters violates constitutional rights linked to the secret of the vote and freedom of choice.

Judges argued this practice constitutes a direct intervention in the individual's right to privacy and freedom of voting, creating social and political pressure on voters”, AIP's advice said.

Furthermore, according to the Agency, voter marking is not a practice in European Union countries, but it can be encountered in other countries, such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahamas, Cambodia, Egypt, India, Nigeria, Peru, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Venezuela, Mexico, etc.

The practice of voter approval, whether in invisible or visible color, does not apply in European Union countries. It is important to note that the use of this practice in other parts of the world is largely due to problems with electoral lists, where there are fears of multiple voting due to lack of accurate and up-to-date voter registrations, or where citizens' identification documents are not standardised or institutionalised, which in the Republic of Kosovo is not necessary because there are other forms that verify the possibility of double voting. The practice of matriculing (evident) has been applied or even continues to apply in countries like: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahamas, Cambodia, Egypt, India, Nigeria, Peru, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Venezuela, Mexico, etc., while the same practice has been criticised because of the possibility of privacy violations and voter exposure to social or political pressure”, the AIP letter says.
