Women had posted a YouTube video in December 2021 claiming that the French president's wife had once been a man named Jean-Michel, a lie that became viral just weeks before the 2022 presidential election and prompted Macros to file a slander complaint.
Popular social media posts claimed that the first lady, once Brigitte Trognaeus, had never existed and that her brother Jean-Michel had changed gender and received that identity, A2 reports.
