Kosovo Customs has reacted to the ship with toxic waste, issues which the Durres Prosecutor has launched.
While stressing that it is difficult to determine the accuracy of the course of events, Kosovo's customs emphasises that there is no export of dangerous waste.
Albania's “Dogana has referred to these goods as lynch concentrations exported by a company registered in Kosovo towards a Swiss company. Since Kosovo Customs does not have access to any official report it is difficult to determine the accuracy of the course of events, while from the search for our export data, we have found that:
There are no exports of dangerous waste that respond to the natural shipments of those reported to the media.
Exports have been identified that refer to in the declaration for media by Albania's Customs, and the product in question, as is highlighted by Albania's Customs, is the lynch concentrations, not waste. For this product the owner of the exporter subject has offered a test to reports from the well-known industry testing company SGS”, the Kosovo Customs says.
From this facility, it is said that Zink concentrations are extracted from Trepca's mine and are constantly exported.
The Zink's “Concentrates are constantly exported and unlike the reporting of Albanian and international media, it's not about waste (the electrical arc current dust as Bloomberg refers to), but about the lynx concentrations released by Trepca”, it is said by Dogan.
Customs says that the concentration export product has concentrated Zink (Zn), Ironit (Fe), Lead (Pb) etc., and as such is not classified as waste. The legislation flowing from the Basel Convention on Risk Remains applies to waste rather than to the first subject being exported.
Similar “Exports are constantly made by the Republic of Kosovo industry, and there has never been any claims of classification of these products as dangerous waste”, customs adds.
Kosovo Customs says it has opened a broad investigation into the issue and will review all relevant issues with these shipments and keep the public informed. /Top Channel.
