Ilir Palqa, the most voted candidate for Municipal Assembly from the Vetevendosje Movement in Rahovec, has resigned from this party. Through a public reaction he has presented the reasons for the resignation, the main one being the silence of the centre in Rahovec after the dismissal of Visar Korenica from the co-ordinator's post, the Civil Code cause.
I joined the Vetevendosje Movement in 2017. The purpose of my political activism has been to make a more direct contribution to Rahovec's society, but even wider. I've tried to contribute; part of my activity is public, while the rest know those with whom we traveled. In 2021, I gained confidence from residents to represent them in the Assembly. I have tried to be active and to represent them in the best way, as well as I know.
LVV's chief, led by Albin Kurti, more than two years ago, dismissed Visar Koranica, the centre's co-ordinator in Rahovec, only because he voted against the Civil Code; against the code which, according to him, according to his voters, and according to me as his friend, negatively affects society. Yet, we have endured with the hope that there will be reflections on this decision. There has been no reflection now of how much time”, he says.
He says there are many other MPs who have voted against various proposals from the government, but have not been fired.
The one who voted against the Civil Code, which was not in the Vetevendosje Movement programme, was fired. Albin and everyone at the VV knew Wisar's obedience when he competed for deputy; they knew that a believer could never vote a code that recognizes marriages of that kind. If you accepted him by knowing him, why was he fired? The speech of the prime minister with Muslim believers has been continuous, from the words that “in Kosovo does not have as much extremism as there are Islamhobi”, and that “does not matter what is on your head, but that what is inside your head,” referring to the headscarves, but again the direction for the failure to wear headscarves in schools remains in force”, Pallqa points out.
In these movements, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, placing the believers behind and not holding back the words once spoken, has given a message to a part of the electorate and society, a message that Decani's group received warmly.
This group also has public support from several “VV's” media representatives, and not just words that hurt all those who proudly maintain their faith, implying that those who do not convert are not patriots. By the silent leadership, silence because of the incentive. Since the beginning, however, many problems have been accumulated; perhaps I have mentioned just a few, or very few of them”.
The pope estimates that his resignation will have a negative impact on him, however, as he puts it “as part of this society, it is up to us to go beyond when we believe it is at the wide benefit of”.
“Today I decided to make a decision which, considering the current power of LVV, negatively affects me as Ilir. But the Ilirians go and come, while society remains, and we, as part of this society, are obligated to go beyond ourselves when we believe it is in the greater good. I publicly declare that I resign from the Vetevendosje Movement. In the hope that there will be reflection, humility, and positive action in society - at least in the future. I continue my political activity for my country and this society until I have the power to move and voice to speak, regardless of whether I have a political position or not. My activity will never be in parties that have contributed to the destruction of the hope of youth. Thank you all for supporting me today.
