Two people get killed in a knife attack on Tel Aviv

A Palestinian assailant killed two people and injured two others in a knife attack in Israel before being killed by police, Israeli authorities reported.

The attack occurred Sunday morning near a gas pump and a park in the town of Holon near Tel Aviv, according to authorities.

A man and a woman were killed, while two other people were injured and rushed to the hospital, medical officials said.

The terrorist was immediately neutralised by one of our officers at the scene, which prevented him from carrying out an even more serious attack”, police spokeswoman Eli Levi told Israeli television channel 12.

In a media communiqué, police said they are at the scene and that “are conducting sweeping raids with a helicopter and additional resources”.

The radical Palestinian group Hamas é, which has been declared a terrorist organisation by the United States and the European Union, said the knife attack was “the natural response” for Israeli attacks on Palestinians and the murder of his political leader, Ismail Haneyeh, last week in Tehran.

However, Hamas did not take responsibility for Sunday's attack. /rel
