Osman “godet” Kurti: When there's coordination with the Allies, success is longer-term.

“There is some kind of disagreement that the US and Kosovo want a sovereign Kosovo, at the current borders. But sometimes the approach towards maintaining a strong democratic Kosovo can be discerned. It's shades of tactics. There may be differences in this direction. But there has never been, nor has there been, even today, any disagreement as to what Kosovo we want. When this foundation is healthy all challenges can be overcome”, Osmani said.

Osmani has further said that co-ordinating with allies is key to Kosovo's success, and, according to her, as soon as you are co-ordinated, success is more stable and longer-term, until it has increased when it does, you may have a presental success that may look beautiful, but that could then result in steps back.

It's not about the road, it's just the speed that goes that way. I'm not saying the whole situation is completely clear. I have had 20 years of political experience and co-ordination with allies is one of the key aspects of our success. When we co-ordinate with the Allies on the ground, success is more stable longer-term, but when we don't do this, it may seem good, but then it's more fragile as success and we can take steps back to”, the president of Kosovo has said.

The president on this panel in Prague has said that Kosovo's power lies precisely in alliances with powerful democratic states and has reiterated that the gap between Kosovo and the US may be in the speed at which it is moving but not on its destination.

When you hold strong alliances, you have the power. Our greatest power is based on our partnership. This has kept us strong. No matter the challenges, not everyone fully agrees with what I say, and that means that Kosovo is a country with sound democracy. The difference between Kosovo and the US may be how fast we walk in one direction, it is not about the road or destination”, Osmani has said.

The United States of America has made clear in some recent reactions that the report between the US and the Government of Kosovo has been hurt and that the government of Kosovo's uncoordinated and unilateral actions are only increasing reporting.

In the response released on Friday 30 August, the US Embassy has said the Kosovo government has instrumentalised the Kosovo Police and that recent actions will also affect the report between the US and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the subordinates of the Ministry of Ministerial Affairs. From the embassy, they have said that the instrumentisation being done to police is a violation of the Kosovo Government's promise of co-ordination and continued consultations with partners.
