He was found guilty of a serious attack after striking a Serb down to the ground and striking him three times with kicks to the head, causing him serious injuries.
This incident occurred in August 2020, while the young man was still in the trial period for a previous parole sentence.
After the investigation into the incident began, Kosovo allegedly committed other crimes, including the threat of a security worker, avoiding police control, and hitting another person in the face, also in a drunken state.
The Supreme Cantonal Court sentenced the young man to 32 months in partial prison, of which 10 months must suffer in reality, and also sentenced him to a conditional fine.
Unlike the District Court, the Supreme Court did not expel him from the country.
However, the Federal Court ruling changes this, demanding his deportation for five years after the end of the sentence.
The court argues that public interest in his deportation exceeds the indictees' personal interests, stressing that his violence poses a danger to society.
Kosovar had gone to Switzerland when he was only one and a half years old and lived there ever since.
He had abandoned two professional practices and had worked for a short period in his father's business, but the work relationship was interrupted because of his tense relationship with his father.
The Federal Court stresses that crimes committed during the trial period and following the opening of investigations show it poses a high risk of repeating criminal acts.
Moreover, he is not economically integrated and has failed to create a stable working relationship, not showing the will to change his situation, the Swiss media report.
