Kosovo's government has said it aims to open the bridge on Iber, which divides South Mitrovica by Albanian majority, and the Serb-abundance North.
Italian soldiers within KFOR's mission are on the bridge over the Iber River, while close are members of the Kosovo Police.
“KFOR continues to implement its mandate, dating back to the United Nations, to contribute to safe environment and freedom of movement for all people from communities living in Kosovo at any time and impartially, including through the fixed presence on the bridge in Mitrovica and regular patrols in the area around”, said a KFOR spokesman for REL.
