Kosovo institutions have made inspections yesterday on the physical sustainability of the Ibër Bridge, while today even truck tests passed on it after the government has warned of its opening.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Hysen Durmishi, who stayed in Mitrovica during the bridge trial, told the media that the action is “in co-ordination with KFOR”.
However, the mission NATO in Kosovo, KFOR for Clankosova.tv has exposed these claims, saying developments on the bridge have been co-ordinated with them.
“We are aware of reports that the technical inspection of the Iber River bridge in Mitrovica has been co-ordinated with the NATO-led KFOR mission. That is not true”, a KFOR spokesman said.
Furthermore, this spokesman said they are by no means involved in this situation, and that the initial inspection of yesterday's ( Wednesday) day has been announced by Kosovo Police Director Gazmend Hoxha, just hours before the process began.
Our August 6, 2024 statement was clear: KFOR Commander Major General Ozkan Ulutash has been notified by the Kosovo Police Director on the day of initial inspection, just hours before he started”, a KFOR spokesman has said.
During yesterday, inspections have been made on the physical sustainability of the Iber River bridge, and today it has been tested by trucks that crossed the bridge.
All of this was done after the government long warned that the bridge over the Iber River, connecting the two Mitrovica, should be opened for the flow of vehicles.
