Gittia completes testimony in Thaci case and others: Albanian people pride in KLA

The witness said the Albanian people boast of the KLA and the boys who have founded it.

The Kosovo Liberation Army-political and military organisation is the most successful project of the Albanian nation in the 20th century. KLA leaders are an emblem that will always radiate in Albanian history”, the witness Dzitia said, answering Krasniqi's defence questions.

After completing Krasniqi's defence questions, additional questions for the witness were again asked by prosecutor Sylvia Déscoli about the methodology he had used in his book.

That's how this witness's testimony ended, and today's hearing was made to continue tomorrow with the next witness.

Dzitia, while witnessing at The Hague, has said there has never been contact with Jakup Krasniqi.

“Exactly, I've never had contact since”, Gitia said, answering Krasniqi's lawyer, Shymala Alagedra.

While for Krasniqi's book, the witness said that after it was published, he has given himself the right to refer but does not know which of the pieces is exaggerated, reports the “Justice Vowift”.

Asked whether he had forwarded the testimony of the Mustafa Rrustem in this case, Zitisia said there was no possibility because of certain family events but who saw some parts.

When asked to comply with Mustafa's statement that the KLA war has been more propagandistic than operational, the witness said there is no comment on it.

“I have no comment. There was no way of thinking about statements of those responsible. I don't have the authority to think about the statement that Mustafa” has issued, said witness Gitia.

Responding to Thaci's lawyer's questions, Sophie Menegon, the witness said that the Lip Operative Zone has received donations constantly from citizens, such as uniforms and others.

He said the appointments that were made in August were the initiative of the Mustaf Rrustem without any order from above.

The “was among the best organised areas and various initiatives that have helped it organise at the best level. And as for the other issue, the organisation is a matter that I cannot comment on and say, but I believe the initiatives were initiated by the commander of the Llap Operative Zone, Rrustem Mustafa without taking any higher order or initiative. The witness said that on NLA General Staff visits to the Llap Zone has not been a participant. He stressed, however, that the appointments were made by Remy.

“In the Lap Operative Zone the people in different command positions were appointed by Commander Remi on July 18, 1998 and you can refer to data in my book”, he said.

The Witness denied that he was part of the delegation or process in Rambouillet, and said he did not remember discussing the matter with any of those interviewed in his book.

Questions about the witness did not have Selim's defense, nor did that of Wessel.

Dzitia has said it has not been fortunate to meet one of the members of the Kosovo Liberation Army General Staff (UÇK) during the war.

That statement, the witness did by answering Hashim Thaci's defence questions through lawyer Sophie Menegon.

“During the war I have not had the destiny of meeting any of the members of the General Staff”, said Dzitia, reports “Justice Trust“.

The Witness said that he had also stated in the book that this book represents only his opinion of events in the Lappi Operative Zone and that this opinion is not a final word.

Before the questioning of the Menego lawyer started, prosecutor Sylvia D'Ascoply questioned the witness, who focused on the witness book where she described the visit of representatives of the KLA General Staff on 18 August-20 August 1998.

In the book, the witness had said the delegation was in composition with Hashim Thaci, Rexhep Selimin, Jakup Krasniqi and Bislim Office, as well as they were hosted by Commander Remi accompanied by Fatmir Humol, Hyzri Talla, Latif Gashi, Kadri Kastrti, Nuredin Ibishi and Sabrin Kicmar.

It's important to point out that in the Llap Operative Zone, I called it officialism for the fact that on July 18th, Commander Rrustem Mustafa had already appointed these structures, these personalities to the most responsible position. Later, the prosecutor presented the book of Jakup Krasniqi to the witness, speaking on this visit to the General Staff delegation in the Lapi Operative Zone.

The Witness said that he read the book in question, and he was one of the main references to general aspects. According to him, Jakup Krasniqi's book agrees with what he is saying in the courtroom.

During her questions, prosecutor DÉscoli asked the witness about certain codes of individuals who had only been described in his book.

I don't know any numbers, but as names I remember. I don't know any others. I don't know. I may know them, but as nicknames I don't know”, said witness Gitia.

With the code "Profa-20л, the witness said he was commander of Brigade 152, Shaban Shala and that Azazi was 30.

“E know after the war (Aziz) in the Kosovo Security Force as long as it has been and more I have no information about them. I don't know, but during the book's preparation, I've seen what the task is after (during the war). I have it in my book when it's the deputy commander of Brigade 152<18x1>, the witness said.

Scender Jutilia said Naim Kadriun did not know him during the war. For Muhamet Latifi, the witness confirmed that he was the commander of civil defence, which he helped mobilise those who wanted to be locked in the KLA.

He also claimed that Muhamet Latifi was from civil protection, Salih Mustafa from the unit BIAH and Skenderu Murati in the health sector, which were also part of the Lap Operative Zone organisation.

Dive during his testimony at The Hague, said lawyers and prosecutors from Kosovo's Specialised Chambers ( DESK), have explained words and sentences from his book, which in opinion have subsequently conveyed the wrong message.

The witness made this statement after being asked by prosecutor Sylvia Déscoli if he has ever reprinted his book.

I reboted it in 2023 with no change. The reason for reprinting is the fact that from this room, lawyers and prosecutors have explained words and sentences from the tone of my book, which in opinion have conveyed a wrong message”, the witness said.

Before that, Jutilia was asked about a portion of the book depicting events in the Lyp Operative Zone from March 24, 1999, to May 1, 1999.

He confirmed that it is accurate information that has reflected in the book, where he had shown that after the start of the NATO bombings, the Llap Operative Zone had begun Serbian offensive and that Serbia had started with the plan "Patkoi" for the expulsion of Albanians.

“Po, those aimed at ousting the civilian population from the Lyp Operative Zone region, but it is an operation based on the plan “Patkoi/Serbia at the time that started with the launch of NATO bombings, and this operation began from the northernmost part of Kosovo, respectively, from the Lyp area. So all units were mobilized at the time to help the population escape and leave the regions that were more dangerous. So, at Patkoi, we have something to add and say”, Gitia said.
