Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani on Wednesday has held a meeting with opposition party leaders to reach an agreement on the date of holding elections.
After the end of the meeting, Osmani announced that they have agreed with the opposition to make an analysis of all the proposed dates for holding elections.
Some parties preferred January 26th, three or four others who preferred February 9th, two or three more February 16th. And, there were other parties that had no preference at all”, Osman stressed.
The ruling party missed Wednesday's meeting after party leader, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, at the same time, held a meeting with the ambassadors on that day, while Chief Parliamentary Glauk Konjufca, has not been accepted by Osmani to attend the meeting, as he said was alone with party leaders.
Regarding the election theme, the Vetevendosje Movement has spoken about Front Online.
VV deputy Halil Thaci has declared that the opposition is not ready for fair elections and leave for premature.
According to VV deputy, the country will face fair elections.
“Already we are in the second half of the year and of course only the time for fair elections is approaching, in my opinion there will be no early elections because the opposition is not ready for fair elections, and it is no longer left to early”, Thaci said.
MP The PDK, Hisen Berisha, has stated that to get elections in a fair way, political parties must engage in constructive dialogue.
“It is important that political parties show responsibility and engage in constructive dialogue to ensure that electoral processes are conducted fairly and in time. The legality of this government ends on February 14th 2025, so the standards and constitutional deadlines -- which are enabled” -- Berisha has said.
Berisha says Kurti had to resign earlier for the damage he caused the country.
Kurt's resignation had to happen because of the damage he has done to the country with harmful agreements during these years of governance and dialogue. Now, his resignation only puts the country in the vicious circle of Article 90, provisions 5 of the Constitution”, Berisha said.
Even the Democratic League of Kosovo has spoken about elections in Kosovo.
LDK Deputy Chairman Gazmend Muharzier has declared that the party he participated in is always ready for elections.
He says Kurti must go out to resign, as he has no knowledge of Kosovo's leadership.
Muhharrier stressed that President Osmani will set the date of the elections on legal terms.
“Osman has started talks with legal deadlines and I believe he will set the date of the elections by the deadline. We're asking Kurt as long as I quit as he shows you don't know how to run the country, we're as soon as we get to the election”, Muhajer said.
AAK MP Time Kadrijaj has declared that President Osmani must take the country to the polls on the date demanded by the opposition.
She said parties are awaiting Osman's decision, having presented their ideas.
“Osman has a legal obligation to invite him to determine the date of the election. The opposition has given an option for elections and is awaiting Osman's decision. Since most parties have been for a date I think we should go to the polls on the date that has been requested”, Kadrijaj said.
MP Kadrijaj says the AAK has demanded Kurt's resignation.
It has praised it as the weakest performance the current government has had.
We've asked Kurt to resign, but he's admitted to whether this will happen is the government's decision. He has said that there is no reason, but the performance of this government is the weakest ever without any transparency”, she added.
Political issues acquaintance, Dritare Arifi, has estimated that in view of political developments Kosovo will not go to early elections.
He has no expectations that Kurti is likely to resign.
Some events depend not only on the government but also on the outside. If we look inside, I don't think there could be an early election because Kurt had to resign or distribute a House that can't happen, I don't think. You'll go with regular elections”, Arifi said.
