He has praised the Kosovo state as a close ally.

Reflecting on Croatia's troubled past, Milanovic drew parallels between Croatia's early challenges and Kosovo's current challenges.

He said that although Kosovo started with great support, now it is lost and “has left itself”.

We started hard, we got protected by a few good people and we had no help at first. All those allies and friends stood by. Kosovo began differently, with great support lost and disappeared in the meantime”.

And now they are leaving themselves, five EU and NATO members have not recognised it. Therefore she is my guest today [President Osmani] and that is why, in addition to our celebrations and our day of pride and glory, this is also an honour and gratitude to our friend”, Milanovic said, Index.hr.
