The three accused, on December 7th, 2023, have been sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Constitutional Court in Pristina, reports “The Law Act for Justice”.
Initially, Appeals College Special Judge Vaton Durguti said that there are no legal conditions for this session to be held, because it was not complete, and the defender of the accused Okan Hasani, the Daqim Ajeti, was not present.
None of the accused attended this session, nor did Syla hurt them.
Under these circumstances, today's session failed, and the next one is expected to be held on a different date.
Otherwise, in the full justice, the Constitutional Court in Pristina has assessed as uncontained fact that the three accused of assaulting Valon Syla were motivated by religious beliefs to cause him injuries. Similarly, the court has come to the conclusion that the attack on Silas has aimed at violating freedom of expression.
The incident against the River Dravis, Kenan and Okan Hasani was founded on August 4th 2023 by the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo (PSRK), with the reasoning that on April 11, 2023, about 11:00, influenced by the extreme radical ideologies of Islam, had easily injured journalist Valon Syla, since he had written in his account in <1> Facebook” for prophet Muhammad and prophet Isa.
Hence, with these actions, Kenan and Okan Hasani were charged with criminal action “Equipment”, the work punishable by six months to three years in prison under the judicial condition of the indictment.
