CEC Chairman: New Law Implementation for General Elections Will Be Challenging

Central Election Commission Chairman Kreshnik Radoniqi stressed that with the new Law on General Elections, the election process has undergone substantial changes. According to him, implementation will be challenging in the February 9th February 2025 parliamentary elections.
CEC Chairman Kreshnik Radoniqi said he has become an active part of the election reform process led by the Kosovo Assembly.
With the new law passed, the CEC has been fully committed to the preparation and harmonisation of 17 sublegal acts or election regulations. Some of these, which connect directly with voters, aim at creating facilities in various election procedures, for voters both at home and abroad. Also, during this time, the CEC has taken concrete steps that we believe will affect the integrity of the ongoing election process and therefore the credibility of citizens and other acts. With the new Law for General Elections, the election process, both inside and abroad, has undergone substantial changes and certainly its implementation will be challenging in the February 9th 2025 elections, but the CEC's readiness to fulfil the tasks that come before us”, he said.
Radoniqi added that the CEC is committed to advancing the election process and that it is making steps in digitising election operations.

O mission chief The SEU in Kosovo, Michael Davenport, said implementation of this software is an important step towards improving efficiency.
“This presents an important step forward in improving efficiency, transparency and for the integrity of the election process. And of course the time when this is happening is very important that the next election has just been announced. We all know that free and fair elections are the basis of democracy. By equipping the CEC with this contemporary software, not only are we supporting the modernisation of the election infrastructure, but at the same time we are also offering voters an additional reason to have confidence in the” election process, Davenport said.
With the implementation of this software, Davenport added that it would become possible to manage elections to be easier and that results will be obtained at the right time.
Regular parliamentary elections in Kosovo will be held on February 9th of 2025.
