A Romanian court has ordered Andrew It had to be placed in house arrest, as it was among the six people banned in an investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Former professional makeup player and his brother, Tristan, were among the six people detained for 24 hours Wednesday, as Romania's anti-crime unit conducted four house controls in Ilfov County and in Bucharest municipality, according to The Guardian.
Diicot asked Bucharest court to arrest the Tate brothers for 30 days, but the judge ruled that Andrew Tate to be placed in house arrest and Tristan in judicial custody for this period, their representative, Mateea Petrescu, said on Thursday.
The Tate brothers strongly welcome the verdict and strongly deny all charges brought against them, stressing that the charges are groundless and unbacked by important evidence”, Petrescu wrote in a statement.
The Tate brothers were previously charged in mid-2023, along with two Romanian women, for trafficking human beings, rape and criminal groups to sexually exploit women, charges they denied.
Prior to their recent ban, the brothers were under a travel ban that allowed them to travel within Romania but not leave the country.
Andrew Tate, who describes himself as a misoginist, has won millions of fans on social networks promoting a lifestyle that critics say shames women.
