August 30th, end deadline of pre-election coalitions

Political subjects by Friday have deadlines to declare pre-election coalitions in the CEC for the opening year. After 30 August, each political subject that has declared a coalition by 30 August will be tasked with competing alone in the February 9th elections. So far alone AAK and Initiative have declared a coalition [...]
From the day the country's president, Vjosa Osmani, announced the decree on the date of fair elections for the Republic of Kosovo Assembly, political parties have had the opportunity to announce the CEC for the coalitions with which they will compete in the election. Officially 30 August is the deadline when parties competing in the elections can report such a kind of participation in the February 9th elections.
While the Vetevendosje Movement did not respond to the possibility of a pre-election coalition, the Democratic Party of Kosovo told television they would compete only in parliamentary elections early next year.
Even in the LDK, they have already announced that possible coalitions will be spoken only after the February 9th result.
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo's pre-election coalition with the Social Democrat Initiative will remain the only pre-election coalition, according to Eugen Cakoli from the Kosovo Democratic Institute.
“In August the coalitions must be informal so they should practically be melting one party into another, as has been the case of the 2021 elections, when parties which have not formally preserved identity have had to merge within another”.
Chocolate says large parties are aiming to preserve identity, add polarisation between them.
“Looking at dynamics in our political spectrum, I don't believe the February 9th elections will find us with any major coalition, except for small parties which traditionally right-wing or left-wing parties join the largest parties, as is the case with LDK, gathering small parties. conservative Christian Democrat. Currently, there is a kind of political polarisation and a tendency to preserve the identity of four major political parties”, Cakolli said.
The Central Election Commission has decided that a political subject in the election could spend two million and 47 thousand euros. Officially, the election campaign starts on January 11th. / RTK
