Iran has been behind recent attempts to avenge Donald Trump's presidential campaign, have confirmed American intelligence officials.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other federal agencies have said through a joint statement that Iran has decided to intervene in American elections “to incite divisions and undermine confidence in our democratic institutions”.
Trump's campaign pointed its finger at Iran on August 10th for revenge of domestic messages.
Iranian officials had dismissed the charges.
Sources close to investigations have told CBS News they suspect the alleged Iranian hackers have also targeted the Democrat candidate's campaign for president, Kamala Harris.
The intelligence community is convinced that Iranians have made efforts to gain access to individuals related to the presidential campaign in both political parties,”, American intelligence officials have said through a statement.
“Such activity, including theft and publication of documents, aims to help with the American election process”.
Hakim in Trump's campaign has been carried out so that people have been e - mailed with a message that has seemed reliable to get them to click on a fake link.
Harris' campaign has said last week that it has been the target of such an attack, although the efforts have not succeeded.
US agencies have said these “tactics are not new and have mentioned that Russia and Iran have used these methods even in the past presidential elections.
It remains unclear what information might have been stolen during the retaliation.
Trump said hackers managed to provide only public information.
According to the giant Google, even the current president's campaign, Joe Biden, was targeted by Iranian hackers, before he withdrew from the race. /rel
