Former Mitrovica leader Agim Bahtiri has demanded that green light be given to the decision to open Ibër Bridge.
It gives competition that such a thing would not affect the gathering of protests as a result of opposition.
Let's normalize the situation. I guarantee that no man from the north or south will protest and will not object, because bridges connect cities, maintain co-operation between”, Bahtiri said.
It is unacceptable that the European Union, instead of supporting such initiatives, stop seems absurd. The partition symbol must once and for all be erased as initiative, let normalisation be normal for all citizens, rather than having the split”, he added.
Bahtiri expressed confidence that the bridge will open, while he said there is no dilemma for that.
“I think the international factor should improve itself for such initiatives, which I don't know who imposes on”, he stressed.
Otherwise, QUINTT and NATO have made it clear to Prime Minister Albin Kurti that they do not support the opening of the Ibri Bridge for cars.
The message was delivered by US Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier, who after the meeting declared that the QUINT and NATO do not support the opening of the Ibri Bridge in Mitrovica at this time.
“Representatives of France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, the United States, together with EU Ambassador to Kosovo, met with Prime Minister Kurti today to announce that our governments in consultation with NATO cannot support any change in the current status of the Mitrovica Bridge at this time”, Houvenier declared before reporters.
The theme for opening the bridge was discussed at the first meeting about two weeks that Prime Minister Albin Kurti had with the ambassadors of QUINT's states and chief of the European Union Office in Kosovo.
“Within information and co-ordination with our international partners, the treatment subject at this meeting was also the importance of co-ordinating institutional action for opening the bridge over the Iber River and cars, so that the full freedom of movement that helps citizens on both sides of the bridge, indiscriminately, and at the same time serves the development of the economy and market through the easier movement of goods and capital<1>, the prime minister's office after that meeting had announced.
The day after this meeting, Prime Minister Kurti had declared that opening the bridge is against no one.
“No one can say that this is not good and right, but we want the law to be implemented, and freedom of movement respected, but also have peace and security for all” -
An answer to the issue has come to Kurt from the European Union yesterday. European Union spokesman Peter Stano has stated yesterday that the issue of reopening the bridge for circulation is a matter of dialogue, and that any opening decision should be made within dialogue.
Against that, President Vjosa Osmani reacted yesterday. She has said this should not be the subject of dialogue with Serbia, because it would be a serious violation of sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutionality of Kosovo.
According to her, the only dialogue should be made in our institutions and our security partners.
The bridge issue should not become the subject of dialogue with Serbia. That would be a serious violation of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutionality in our country. Vovac has no questions about when the bridges will be opened for circulation in the Republic of Kosovo. The only dialogue that has to be done is the one within Kosovo, between our institutions and our security partners (particularly with NATO), so that the joint implementation plan for the opening of the bridge for each circulation, which takes into account the security assessments and interests of our citizens, is built. He wrote Osmani”, wrote Osmani.
“No one can say that this is not a good and just thing, but we want the law to be implemented, and freedom of movement respected, but also to have peace and security for all”, Kurti said last month.
