Following Shkumbin Ahmetzhekaj's resignation from this position, the Steering Board RTK's at a meeting today decided that Zana Spahiu would exercise this task.
Spahiu is a graduate of the Law Faculty at Pristina University. From 2010 she works in RTK as a lawyer, and in 2022 she was elected head of the Public Media Legal Office, reaching more than 14 years of legal experience.
This board decision has come since the date 23.05.2024 Shkumbin Ahmedekaj has submitted his resignation from the position of RTK general director. According to his request and determination, the resignation will be effective from the 08.07.2024, which he has already agreed on with the RTK Board in order to conduct the works that have been under way, including participation in the EBU General Assembly”, the Public Television Board communique said.
Board RTK had named Ahmetgekaj at first a leader-general's task on January 19th 2022, and then he was elected director general RTK in June of that year.
“Bord of RTK thanks Mr. Ahmetjekaj for the cooperation so far. With Mr. The Board has had a correct co-operation, yet weeks ago there have been different differences and approaches regarding the case of psychic violence that Mr. Edsim Halili towards some women in RTK, especially the head of the legal office. The board has been waiting for the general director to handle this case to confirm its responsibilities. The re-inflammatory board that psychic violence and any kind of similar pressure on anyone, is unacceptable and will not be allowed at RTK”, the communique says.
Board RTK says “will continue to work on maintaining independence and professionalising RTK”.
“Bord of RTK will continue its commitment to progress in RTK and will commit to carrying out reform at RTK”, the communiqué says.
