Writer and university professor Agim Vinca showed a case from 1999, when Hashim Thaci, who then led the Kosovo delegation at the Rambouillet Conference held in France with the aim of establishing peace in Kosovo, had sought protection from writer Ismail Kadare prior to the signing of the Agreement.
Vinca said that the night before the signatures were put in agreement by the Kosovo side, Thaci had gone to Kadare's apartment to ask a question.
Before Rambouillet, Hashim Thaci the night before the signing went to the Kadare flat in downtown Paris, and told him if they told me a traitor, did you protect me? He said yes, sign it. These are suns. It's evidence. Kadare also wrote letters to Ukshin Hoti, and the one from prison answered. He did not get out of prison, but the book remained. His sensitivity to Kosovo was big”, Vinca said in Frontal.
He showed his high appreciation for Kadare, for whom he said “has created spiritual food for his people” even under the conditions of the totalitarian regime.
Its “Books have disappeared from libraries within the hour. Students have been eager to read each of his works”, Vinca said.
Kadare died today at the age of 88.
