Trump explains communication with Secret Service agents immediately after the assassination: They hit me so hard I dropped my shoes

In the audio where it is heard speaking to members of the Secret Service after the shooting, Trump was heard twice saying he had to flee his shoes while agents were taking him off the scene.

Let me get my shoes. Let me get my shoes”, Trump says.

I got you, sir. I got you, Mr.”, says an agent.

Let me take off my shoes”, Trump says again.

Reflecting on the survival of the shooting, Trump said in an interview with the New York Post that when the Secret Service went out to protect it on stage, they took off his shoes.

My shoes and shoes are narrow”, Trump said.

In the interview, the former president praised Secret Service agents who defended him on Saturday.

“They did a fantastic job”, he said. It's surreal for all of us”.
