It is generally accepted that the back seat, especially on the right, is the safest place in the vehicle. But researching accidents by the German Association of Accident Providers (UDV) offers new knowledge.

The initial analysis shows that only ten percent of those injured in traffic accidents have sat in the back seat. However, this number must be taken with little salt because the back seat is empty in most of the trips.
The UDV points out that in accidents about 70 percent of the injuries in the back seat have been as heavy as front ones. In about 20 percent of cases, injuries have been more serious, reports the tonline.

What are the reasons?

This is attributed to the fact that passengers of the rear seats are often not properly restrained or lowered into positions that increase the risk of injury in case of an accident.

Another reason for increasing the risk of injury to the back seat is the poor quality of security equipment.

While the preservatives of seat belts, seat belt strength limitors, and air pillows are usually standard equipment on front seats, these safety features are often offered only as an option in the back seat.

The driver's side is generally the safest place in a car, because many security systems have been created to protect the driver. /Telegraphy/
