Russian forces are organising their worst attacks near the eastern strategic town of Pokrovsk, Kiev's army has said.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said in an update on the battle field that the fighting on the front of Pokrovsk were the worst all over eastern Ukraine, adding that Ukrainian forces had backed 52 Russian attacks in the last 24 hours.
“The biggest focus of enemy attacks was on Jelanne and Novoolexandrovika,” he said, citing two villages stretching east of Pokrovsk.
Pokrovsk, with a population of 61,000 pre-war residents, lies on a major road that serves as an important supply route for other countries, such as the cities of Chasiv Yar and Costiantynivka.
“On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy has established a military presence, carried out sabotaged and intelligent activities, attacks areas populated by the Russian Federation's territory”, the General Staff of Armed Forces said in a post in Telegram.
From February 24th 2022 to July 29, 2024, 576,000 Russians have been killed, the General Staff said.
