Former Slovenian president Borut Pahor, who is aiming to become a mediator of the European Union in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, has said that to get out of the vicious circle created in this process, the Ohrid Agreement must be respected.
In an interview for “N1” Slovenian, he has talked about Association:
“First, it is necessary to respect what has been achieved in Ohrid. This agreement has all the characteristics of a binding international treaty, and both sides are obliged to meet agreements and principles linking Kosovo to create the Association of Serb majority municipalities and Serbia to continue the processes for which” is engaged.
Pahor has said that Kosovo has made a promise 10 years ago, and that a meaning must be reached with the country's Government for the importance of association.
He also stressed that Prime Minister Albin Kurti's problem and politics in Kosovo, it is that association is viewed as a Republika Srpska.
The problem with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, with the Government and the entire political public in Kosovo, is that they see the Association of Serb majority municipalities as a continuation of the Serbian world, or parallel to Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They fear that this actually gives Serbia a formal leverage to intervene in Kosovo's internal affairs.” he said, broadcast Nacional.
Pahor, however, has added that this too could be achieved, and that if it were not safe, he would not run for the position of emissar.
But this promise is given and signed, and in Kosovo they are obliged to meet, and I think it is possible to achieve this after a process. If I didn't think you'd get there, I wouldn't run for this position. ” The former Slovenian president said so.
