Last night, Osman's letter was published in the media. Osmani initially clarified the procedures, as envisioned by the Constitutions and the General Election Law, where he announced that the phase has begun within which consultations could begin.
She has invited party leaders to meet on August 31st, at 2: 00 p.m.
Beyond this letter, I am addressing you regarding the joint consultation for the appointment date of general elections in the Republic of Kosovo”.
This invitation has already responded to the two largest opposition parties.
PDK Secretary General Vlora Citaku has said that this party will participate in the meeting invited by President Vjosa Osmani about setting the date of fair elections.
At a media conference, Citaku has said this invitation is not linked to early elections, as such a thing has long been demanding by the PDK.
She has said that this invitation links with fair elections.
“The PDK has accepted the invitation of President Osmani to a meeting about the election date set. Of course, we will respond to the invitation, we have a constitutional and legal obligation to receive such a meeting. You know that the PDK has been asking for early elections since July last year, but President Osmani's invitation does not concern early elections with setting the date for fair elections and we will participate in the position on this issue and the preferred date we will say there” Chitaku said.
The invitation has also been responded positively to by the first of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku.
The LDK spokesman Besian Mustafa has confirmed this for the signal.
“
Meanwhile, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has not yet responded to this invitation from the Ottoman Party.
The signal has contacted the AAK if they will follow the path of two other opposition parties, however, so far it has not received answers.
The last national elections were held on February 14, 2021, when the Vetevendosje Movement came first with more than 50 per cent of the vote. The second party was PDK, the third to LDK, and the fourth to the AAK. Fatmir Limaj's party had failed to pass the election threshold.
Vetevendosje had won the coalition elections with the “Gux” established by Vjosa Osmani, now president of the Republic.
