Hungary's prime minister, Viktor Orban, arrived on a visit to Kiev for the first time since Russia began its full - scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
His spokesman, Zoltan Kovacs, said Orban will discuss “European peace” with Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky.
“Talks will focus on opportunities for achieving peace, as well as on current issues in Hungarian-Ukrainian bilateral relations”, Kovacs wrote on X.
His visit comes a day after Hungary assumed the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Orban is a critic of Western military aid to Ukraine.
He is also one of the few Western leaders who has met with Russian President Vladimir Putin since he has ordered the conquest of the neighbouring country. / REL/
