Last week it was reported that Muller had decided to withdraw from international football.
Now, Bayern Munich's 34-year-old veteran has personally confirmed it by posting a video on YouTube.
When it gave me the chance to play my first international game over 14 years ago, I never dreamed that this would happen. After 131 international matches and 45 goals, today I am saying farewell to the German eagle”, Muller said in the video.
The 34-year-old added that he had experienced a large <x0-fits and bitter defeat” with the national.
I was sometimes destroyed just to get back together in competition with the best players in the world and alongside the team's fantastic friends, with whom I shared many memorable times”, he said.
I was always proud to represent my country. I want to thank you all. Now I'm going to be a fan at the” Tribe, Mueller concluded.
Muller made his debut for Germany in 2010 and made 131 presentations for the national team, marking 45 goals and providing 41 assistatives.
The 34-year-old is Germany's third most presentation player, after only Miroslav Klose (137 presentations) and Lothar Matthaus (150 presentations).
He was the best scorer at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with five goals and raised the trophy with Germany four years later in Brazil.
The striker will continue his career in a club with Bayern Munich, where he has a contract until 2025.
