Meta Platforms said on Tuesday it would lift its general ban on the word “sinceheheed” or “martir” in English.
The company has been criticised for years for dealing with the content that includes the Middle East, including in a 2021 study commissioned by Meta himself, which revealed that its approach had a “negative human rights impact” on Palestinians and other Arabic-speaking users of its services, sent to the foreign media, magnification explains.
A board of supervisor, which is funded by Meta but works independently, began its revision last year because the word constituted more content removal on the company platforms than any other single word or phrase.
We think Meta is the mother of Facebook and Instagram.
The revision revealed in March that Meta rules for “shaheed” failed to calculate the variety of meanings of the word and resulted in the removal of content that was not intended to praise violent actions.
The monitoring board welcomed the change, saying Meta's policy on the word had led to the censorship of millions of people on its platforms. /Telegraph/
