The Democratic League of Kosovo has been the last to confirm this.
The chairman of this political subject, Lumir Abdixhiku, has said that 4 dates have been provided to him, and the previous was January 26th.
“Since, under the definitions of constitutional terms, four dates were offered to us, those on January 26th, February 2nd, February 9th and February 16th; and in line with the Democratic League's political convictions that the country needs as soon as it needs a new government, prevents deregulation of the state, heals social polarization, restores pro-Western orientation and focuses on developing civic prosperity, I proposed January 26th 20th, 2025, as the date of the next elections<1).
Abdixhiku as did other oppositions suggested that part of this meeting did not receive Vetevendosje and the Serbian List.
After meeting with President Vjosa Osmani over the possibility of new elections, two leaders of opposition parties -- AAK's Ramush Haradinaj and Memli Krasniqi PDK.
Haradinaj has proposed January 26th as the election date, which says he was supported by other opposition parties.
“Today at a consultative meeting called by President Vjosa Osmani Sadriou for setting the date of general elections in the Republic of Kosovo, I proposed that parliamentary elections be held on January 26th 2025. This is the first date in line with legal deadlines. Other opposition parties expressed the same stance. Non-Serb minority parties offered to accept the majority date, or the date the president sets. Vetevendosje and the Serbian List did not attend the meeting. I hope the president takes advantage of her constitutional right and respects the request of parliamentary parties who were part of this meeting and put it on January 26,”, he wrote on Facebook.
Ramush Haradinaj also proposes January 26th for holding elections
The same proposal has been extended by Democratic Party of Kosovo chairman Memli Krasniqi.
He has proposed that January 26th be the date of parliamentary elections.
“Today, at a meeting with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and the heads of other parliamentary parties in Kosovo, I have proposed January 26th 2025 as the optimum date when regular national elections should be held in our country. The Democratic Party of Kosovo, in view of the current government, has repeatedly called for early elections. Since early elections did not take place, regular elections do not need to have an unwarranted extension ʹ so the first valid date must be the date when we have to go elections. The PDK has been, is and will be ready for elections on any date. Kosovo and our citizens need a new government, responsible, creditable and capable, which has the knowledge and courage to restore the country to the right course of development and European integration”, Krasniqi has written.
