Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has made the decision that Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, will be proclaimed a day of state mourning, in case of world-renowned Albanian writer Ismail Kadare's death..

State Montenegro will be on Wednesday, the day Ismail Kadare is buried, while the Presidency Media Office reports that the State Protocol is tasked with taking all necessary actions to implement this decision.

President Osmani, in June last year, had decorated writer Ismail Kadare with Order “Hasan Pristina”, among the highest orders the Republic of Kosovo provides for the nation's most prominent personalities. While in August, the president announced the decree, with which world-renowned Albanian writer Ismail Kadare, has been granted the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo.
