As director in RTK, I have a professional and moral obligation to the RTK public, as well as to the citizens of the Republic, when the name of the institution is coveted.

So I wanted to explain the circumstances in which RTK conveyed the news of Bosnian media regarding the regime in Serbia, their plans for the region, but also about Serbia's influence on the media in the region, but also about some of those in Albanian in Kosovo.

It's about a text in the media, the Free Bosna. Slobodna Bosna, who thus claims to have investigated the impact Aleksandar Vucic exercises on the media of neighbouring countries. It mentions, among other things, some media that operate in our country. I want to stress at the beginning of the time that RTK did not mention these media by name; one way to keep the integrity of professionals working in those media against the professional obligation to inform the public.

Professional appreciation for publishing news like this is never easy. Since news is not the product of personal investigation, journalism must judge the seriousness of the media cited. I'm gonna ask you a couple of questions. Is the anonymous portal that was cited, or is there a professional editorial with a responsible editor? What a media story. There are estimates from journalists' associations in the country.

These and other questions like these all have abundant answers.

Free bosna is a serious medium. It has been published as a daily newspaper since the 1990s. In 2015 it went completely through the digital edition, like most media in the region and beyond. FreeBosna has professional editorials, with prominent Bosnian journalist Mirha Dedic as editor-in-chief. However, seven professional and experienced journalists from all three nationalities in Bosnia work there. She also has a professional photographer, an administrative editor of editorials. The editor responsible is famous Bosnian journalist Senad Avdic.

The Free World has a secularist profile, that is, it has not slipped into the waters of religious fanaticism. It has been noted for investigating corruption and organised crime. As such, of course, he has been charged and often indicted in court. However, when a Bosniak court convicted responsible editor Avdic of some investigative articles in 2011, the Journalists' Defence Committee called that decision “a gross attack on free journalism”. That same year, that year, 2011, the editor in charge of the Free Bosnia, Senad Avdic, has been declared there by year's Gajzetar.

So, I repeat, the “Free Bosna” is known as a serious medium. RTK regularly conveys news from foreign media with the importance they write about Kosovo. I think there was no objective motive here to censor the news of a serious medium.

One of the basic principles of journalism is the professional and ethical obligation to publish the news regardless of the consequences, what our German colleagues call “Consepvensneuity”: the task of neutral journalism is not to keep from the consequences the people mentioned in the news, but to inform the public. Individuals and mediums in question have had every opportunity to react to RTK, they know they are experienced journalists. But they have chosen to react to their own media, and legally follow the medium “Bosna Free”.

This cannot stop us from reporting even those processes.

I want to add, in the end, that when RTK conveyed the message in word from the “FreeBosna”, he received data. So it was already commented on social networking. In that situation, after judging the seriousness of foreign media, RTK has only two options left in principle. Or silence the news, and then be criticized for exercising censorship, lowering the institution's credibility in public; hence, criticism like these have sunk all public broadcasters in the region. Or blow the news and face expected criticism.

Board RTK's and U.d. RTK's director has announced they will launch an ad hoc commission to review the decision as follows. I welcome this step, it's a good way to review tasks and professional expectations at RTK.

RTK cannot become the anxious medium who walks to the top of his fingers to avoid disturbing anyone. It can't stand as the status quo. Nor can it be extinguished beyond the development of the news.

I am convinced that the commission will confirm the basic principles and limits of the ethical standards of journalism, putting the public's higher right to information in the first place. And above all, RTK's right to take the lead in reporting even when there is social debate.
