At a location in the Podujevo municipality, an ossuary find believed to be in the human body yesterday and belonged to the period of the last war.
These findings have been drawn by officials from the Institute of Legal Medicine and sent for orientation and identification.
“HAPPINESS POPULATION CIVILE Podujevo 1999. The Directorate for Investigation of War Crimes, in co-operation with the Law Medicine Institute, has implemented the ordinance for implementation at a location in the Podujevo municipality, where ossuary findings believed to be in the human body and belonged to the period of recent war have been encountered. Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has declared that the remains are allegedly of an individual from the list of people missing violent from the recent war.
“Today, in the cemetery near the Podujevo Tule, the IML forensic teams, with support from EULEX, in co-operation with the Kosovo Police and the CECZ, have managed to locate the mortore remains of an individual allegedly from the list of violent missing persons from the recent war. Excavations are still continuing in search of other individuals, Haxhi wrote.
The Government Commission for Missing Persons has also announced the finding of these mortar remains.
Even during this week, excavations have continued according to preliminary planning and in co-ordinating interilateral activities between the Government Commission for Missing Persons, the Institute of Legal Medicine and the Police Directorate for War Crimes Investigation. The evaluation excavations launched yesterday at the site of the town of Podujevo (Tule) cemetery have resulted in the discovery and exhumation of an individual/person's remains on the Missing Persons List.
Data on the exact number of exhumed individuals and their identity will be identified after the necessary forensic examinations are completed, including identification through scientific DNA analysis”, says the report.
