France is voting today in its most important elections in years, with the extreme right hoping for a historic victory.
This is the first time that the RN and Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella have had a realistic chance to run the government and take full control of the National Assembly, the BBC writes.
But, following the RN's victory in the first round in early parliamentary elections last Sunday, hundreds of rival candidates left to give others a chance to defeat the extreme right.
The vote in France starts at 0800, and the first polls will be released 12 hours later.
