FBI Director: The plan to attack Trump had requested information on Kennedy's murder online.

The author of the assassination to former President Donald Trump is believed to have been searching the internet a week before the shooting on American President John Kennedy's assassination, FBI Director Christopher Wray said during his testimony Wednesday. But Director Wray added that although the bomber had shown increased interest in public figures, he [...]

But Director Wray added that although the bomber had shown increased interest about public figures, he has not left clear traces of ideological motives behind.

According to Wray, attack author Thomas Matthew Crooks requested online answers to the question that “What was the distance between Oswald and Kennedy?, referring to Lee Harvey Oswald, who shot President Kennedy in 1963 in Dallas.

Director Wray revealed these details to lawmakers of the House of Representatives Jury Commission as part of the new information offered by him about the July 13th attack at Mr. Trump's election rally in Batler, Pennsylvania.

FBI investigations have put the agency in the middle of the political storm a few months before the presidential election, with lawmakers and the public insisting on the motives it promoted to the attack author, the most serious attempt to kill a president or presidential candidate since the assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981.

The FBI has built a detailed schedule of the attack author's online movements and activities, but the exact motive -- or why Mr. Trump was his target -- remains unknown, said Mr. Wray.

Many of the common sources of information have yet to produce any results worth mentioning in terms of motive or ideology,” He said. Mr. Wray pointed out that the author of the attack had shown increased interest in public figures. Besides Mr. Trump, Crooks had pictures of President Joe Biden and other key figures on his phone and that in the days before the attack he seemed interested in Mr. Trump.

According to Mr. Wray, two hours before the attack, Croux used a threat about 180 meters from the stage of the rally where Mr. Trump stayed later. Crooks had live transmitted the footage from the site and reviewed the records later. The use of the drive near the rally just hours before Mr. Trump stood on the stage, prompted additional questions about the security measures' shortcomings prior to the event.

Wray told US lawmakers Wednesday that his institution “do all efforts” to find out what caused the authorities' failure to prevent the assassination against former President Donald Trump.

I've long said that we live in an environment with added threats. And the assassination was a tragic and particularly disgusting example of such an environment”Director Wray said in his testimony. We'll do our best. The killer is dead, but FBI investigations are continuing. ”

Director Wray is testifying at a convention hearing on the Bureau's investigation into the assassination against former President Donald Trump. Lawmakers are expected to ask him for new details about the motive and past of the attack author.

The session at the House of Representatives Jury Commission is the first time Mr. Wray is speaking in detail about the event, while agents continue to conduct investigations on 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Croux.

But the session on assassination to Mr. Trump was held under the shadow of party divisions within the commission.

The session was planned well ahead of the attack on former President Trump on 13 July, under routine supervision of the FBI and the Department of Justice from the Commission, but questions about the assassination are taking over.

At the beginning of the session, the chairman of the House of Representatives Jury Commission, Republican lawmaker Jim Jordan, said he expects the director Wray to answer questions about the events that happened before, during and after the incident, but voiced doubts that he would receive answers even before the questions began.

I'm sure you understand that a considerable part of the country is skeptical about the ability of the FBI to conduct a fair, sincere, open and transparent investigation,” He declared.

Democrat lawmaker Jerrold Nadler condemned the attack on former President Trump “unequivocally and strongly”, but in his comments he highlighted threats and political violence over the years as well as violent rhetoric, as he said, on the part of the republics, including Trump himself.

If you think this bullet of the bomber was sudden and not part of a wave of violence that has been threatening our country for years, then you haven't understood the core,” He declared.

So far, not the same concerns as those faced by the Secret Service, which led to the resignation of director Kimberly Chetle.

The FBI has said they are investigating the event in Butler, Pennsylvania, which killed one in the gathering and two others were seriously injured, as an act of domestic terrorism and attempted murder. / VOA
