EU Ambassador to Kosovo Thomas Szunyog has reacted after voting the Law for Independent Media Council and Law for the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, without taking into account recommendations given by domestic and international experts.
Szunyog said that the assembly today lost the opportunity to have two good laws, the one for KKP and KPM, but, according to him, this failed in full information on EU recommendations and other international organisations.
“After all, good laws have nothing to do with Kosovo's path towards the EU. They have to do with ensuring the rule of law, justice and protection of citizens. We regret that the Assembly failed to address these main concerns and to comply with EU standards and European standards”, Szunyog wrote.
Furthermore, Szunyog called on the assembly to review the proposed amendments to ensure that the law meets EU standards and European standards, addressing previous comments and recommendations.
Regarding these two laws, on post by Szunyog on the social network “X”, has also reacted to German Ambassador to Kosovo Jorn Rohde, who said that if the government wants to accelerate Kosovo's path towards the EU, any new law should be fully in line with EU standards.
“The Kosovoers want to be part of the European family and if the Kosovo government wants to accelerate its path towards the EU, any new law should be fully in line with EU standards. EU, KiE and O The SEU has given their opinions on the laws, but were ignored”, Rohde said.
