Attending this event were political personalities as well as representatives of civil and media society.
In his address, US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Havenier has stressed that they have gathered to celebrate July 4th, 1776.
Hovenier has declared that he is proud that his country is founded on the idea that all men and all women have been created equal to” and that “midis are life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness.
He has stressed that even further, American society continues to be guided by the principle of equality and freedom.
On July 4, 1776, our founding fathers all dedicated their lives, wealth, and honor to the principles and values that we continue to preserve and try to live today. I am proud that my country was founded on the idea that all men (and will exploit the ambassador's right and say “all women” are created equal, that they are equipped by their Creator with certain rights, that among these rights are life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. These are holy words for Americans, but also vivid ideas for which we continue to act. Even though neither we nor our founding fathers have always fulfilled our greatest ideals, we continue to define ourselves and our society and to be guided by the principle of equality, freedom and government, which takes over its authority and power through „the adoption of the command”, Houvener has declared.
In addition, Houvenier has said the US is proud of the support it has given to the people of Kosovo to establish peace and security.
The United States is proud of the support it has given to the people of Kosovo for a quarter of a century. I want you to know that US commitment is long-term and apartheic. We hope to see greater progress for the benefit of all of Kosovo's people. And I want to state that the United States was, are and will be with the people of Kosovo as you move forward to fulfill this” vision, Havener stressed.
Meanwhile, the country's president, Vjosa Osmani, said that Independence Day is not a day of pride only for Americans, but also for the people of Kosovo and all around the world.
Recalling the US's role in the country's liberation, Osmani said that 25 years ago the democratic world led by the United States intervened to end the terrible suffering of the Serbian regime, for which he added that the people of Kosovo experienced the blessings of freedom and peace.
“Sic often says this Independence Day is not just a day of pride for Americans, it is a great day of gratitude for us here in the Republic of Kosovo, as well as for all your friends worldwide. In Kosovo your example illuminates our way every day, promoting our aspirations and strengthening our resolve to create a future defined by freedom and justice. In you, we don't just see our greatest ally, but we also find guidance and guidance while working with persistence to protect freedom, democracy and justice for all. This year also marks an important milestone in the stable alliance between our two countries. 25 years ago, the democratic world led by the United States intervened to end the terrible human suffering committed by Milosevic's genocide regime. The exemplary leadership of the United States made sure that the people of Kosovo finally experience the blessings of freedom and peace along with the major responsibilities that come with it”, Osmani has declared.
She has expressed confidence that the future between the two countries has chapters of praise ahead.
Your contribution has been important in achieving our independence, consolidating our democracy, strengthening our defence capacities and our economy, and in increasing our international position. We share a significant past, but I'm sure many other chapters of praise are ahead of us”, Osmani stressed. / KP
