Giant Microsoft estimates 8.5 million computers worldwide have faced cyber problems in recent days.
This is the first figure that shows the seriousness of the incident, and there are suggestions that may have been the worst cyber incident in history.
Chaos has been caused because the cyber security company, Crowdtric, has made a mistake in upgrading the system, and so many operations have been disabled.
Among the affected businesses were airports, banks and hospitals.
Microsoft Vice President David Weston has said that the figure of 8.5 million equipment is less than 1 percent of all Windows devices in the world.
This technological giant has said that the incident has highlighted the importance of companies like Crowstrice making continued checks on the day-to-day processes, before being released to public.
The huge chaos caused has already increased warnings from experts that hackers can exploit this opportunity to make problems.
The company's chief, George Kurtz, has encouraged customers to make sure they are talking to a company representative before unloading something on their equipment. / REL/
