US President Joe Biden addressed NATO countries' leaders during one speech Washington, where it spoke of the alliance's unity against Russian aggression in Ukraine.
Beden, on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of this military organisation, said NATO is the largest and most effective alliance in world history.
Not far after beginning his word, Beden cited intervention in the Balkans to stop ethnic cleansing, reports the newspaper Express.
When war broke out in the Balkans, we intervened to restore peace and stop ethnic cleansing”, Beden said before NATO Secretary General, NATO countries leaders, foreign and defence ministers, representatives from partner countries of the European Union and members of Congress at the NATO Summit.
Beden said NATO evolved strategies to face threats and boost effectiveness.
“Today, NATO is more powerful than ever: 32 strong nations. For years Finland and Sweden were among our closest partners. Now they have chosen to officially join NATO”, the American president said, among other things.
He stressed that “character of NATO is essentially democratic, always has been and must always be”.
