For the first time in recent centuries, Albania is no longer a predominantly Muslim country.
The news has also caught the attention of several Turkish newspapers that have reported it, saying Muslims in Albania have fallen below 50% for the first time in more than 200 years.
Muslims in Albania, however, continue to be the largest religious grouping of 45.7%.
