Turkey has called the Israeli operation for the release of its captives a <x0-barbarbaral attack” with at least 226 Palestinians killed.
“With this recent barbarous attack, Israel has added a new one to the war crimes list it committed to Gaza”, the Foreign Ministry said in Ankara, writes Al Jazeera.
During the Israeli Army's operation to release four captives, the Nuseyira refugee camp came under heavy air strikes and artillery fires, leading to mass casualties and injuries.
The Israeli Army said it was verifying reports, and army spokesman Daniel Hagari said there were fewer than 100 victims.
Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed 283 people and injured 814 in the last 24 hours, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
The overwhelming majority of those victims -- 274 killed and 698 injured -- were caused by Israel's operation in Nusira, the ministry said.
Israeli forces claimed to have released four captives during the operation.
But according to the ministry, the latest victims bring the total number of Gaza deaths as of 7 October to 37,084 killed and 84,494 injured.
Meanwhile, Qatar Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has said Israel's battle against Gaza represents a <x0 turning point in Middle East and world history”
The country's top conflict mediator made those comments during a meeting of Gulf Co-operation Council countries.
“We are still waiting for the international community to stop the war...”, Al Thani was quoted as saying, adding that the GCC should push for a permanent ceasefire.
Qatar State has been working since October last together with its regional and international partners to reach a permanent ceasefire and resolve the crisis to prevent the opening of other fronts in the region”.
