South Africans claim that Israel was violating the genocide convention with the military attack that has destroyed much of Gaza.
The court has ordered Israel to immediately stop the military offensive in the southern city of Gaza, Rafah, but did not order a ceasefire in enclaves. Israel has not obeyed, nor does it indicate any sign of doing so.
“There should be no doubt that Spain will remain on the right side of history”, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said.
Mexico, Colombia, Nicaragua, Libya and Palestinians are waiting for the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Holland to approve their demands to join the case.
Israel denies that it is committing genocide in the military operation to crush Hamas, caused by the deadly attacks of October 7th in southern Israel.
