The Hague's Specialised Chambers announced that the Judicial Chamber in the Hashim Thaci case and co-accused on June 19th approved a request by Rexhep Selimi's defence to exclude certain evidence concerning a witness from the process.
This was made known at a media conference by DPS spokesman Michael Doyle.
The Judicial Chamber found that the relevant evidence had limited provative value and have considerable damaging effect on the accused. The Judicial Chamber also instructed the Prosecutor not to ask questions about this trial when witnessing and warning the witness against speaking about it during witnessing. ”
On June 20th, the Judicial Chamber approved a request by the Prosecutor to allow two witnesses to give a video witness. One of the witnesses cannot travel for health reasons, while another witness, the prosecution, raised concerns about security causes. The Judicial Chamber stressed that the parties could ask witnesses questions just as if they were in the courtroom and the defence teams presented no objections to the request. The Judicial Chamber also stressed that testimony through video connection could lead to the fastest trial process”, the announcement said.
