It's just one of the recommendations of the American National Security Agency (NSA), which has published a series of other advice for phone users to protect against the attacks of hackers and viruses.
The phone can be influenced by a series of security threats, from CHAphisting to CHAmalware, writes DailyMail.
One way to protect yourself from attacks that can infect your device without any interaction on your part is to turn off the phone periodically and then start it again, at least once a week. Such simple action may make stealing information from the phone harder for hackers, though The NSA warns that it will not always prevent the attack.
Except for going off the phone, The NSA recommends regular update of the apps and operating system to get the latest security updates.
Install apps only from official stores such as Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Be careful about public Wi-Fi networks and avoid them when possible. Turn Bluetooth off when you don't use it to prevent other devices from connecting and getting access to your phone, says further on NSA recommendations.
