Rama: A group of unity must be formed so that Kosovo can get out of the mine game with Serbia

Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama proposed forming a unity group to exit “the cat with the mouse with Serbia”. Asked how Rama, who is standing in Pristina today, sees Kosovo, said that “sot we are in a process that deepens the approach to foreign policy as politics [...]

Asked how Rama, who is staying in Pristina today, sees Kosovo, said that “sot we are in a process where more approach to foreign policy deepens as domestic policy” and that it is happening “harnessing communication platforms abroad as tribunas to get votes here”.

This can certainly have electoral success, but it leaves Kosovo with less and less trust on the part of its international friends and allies. And in my view, as we are today for Ibrahim Rugova, if Kosovo were to come out of this cat game with the mouse on the table with Serbia and with a team of unity it would be directed to the European Union by telling quite frankly we don't want to talk to Serbia about what to talk to Serbia we are here to talk to the European Union, to fulfill all the obligations we have like the Republic of Kosovo, in the context of international standards and the European Union, and to draw close to you. Then what Serbia does is the job of Serbia, go and deal with Serbia”, Rama said at the “Rugova and West” conference, organised by the Democratic League of Kosovo.

He said Kosovo must get out of the trap, where, according to him, is introduced by Serbia's continuing provocations, but also “due to the exploitation of foreign policy as domestic policy”.

But this cat-to- mouse confrontation on the table, these meetings to be closed in for hours, just to go out after the meeting to say how hard I stood up, mutually, obviously, these don't lead anywhere. And I have not understood it, nor will I ever understand what the future of Kosovo has to do with, what connection Kosovo has, not in relation to Serbia, but in relation to itself, which seeks to enter NATO, the EU with what it does and what it likes and what pleases Serbia<1>, Rama said.

Serbia may never want to approach the idea that it should never recognise Kosovo. But this should not prevent Kosovo from progressing to the point when everyone accepts and recognises it as a model state that meets all standards to stay with others in the community of states. And I'm convinced this isn't fantasy. This thing is within reach. And I am convinced that this would get Kosovo out of the trap where Serbia has put it with its continuing provocations, but also where it has somehow been introduced because of the use of foreign policy as domestic policy”, he added.

Rama said Kosovo and Albania “are not the navel of the world”.

I said it before: We're a small people anyway, we have two small states anyway. We are not the navel of the world. And every time we thought we were the navel of the world we've suffered very badly and every time we realized that we have to be like good men with lots of friends and that we have to turn the investment of Ibrahim Rugova and others into a capital in the future, so many times we've managed to do the right thing”, Rama said.

The Albanian prime minister should have it “all” and that it “should show Serbia the license plate and leave before”.

Kosovo is very beautiful, Kosovo has all the possibilities and Kosovo does not have to waste time running around itself. He has everything he needs, he has all the partners, the allies he needs, he has all his resources, he has talents, he has people, he has energy, he has power, everything. Simply and only Kosovo should show Serbia the license and move forward and Serbia then do whatever it wants, that ultimately Kosovo's fate cannot be maintained connected with interests or with Serbia's inability to deal with its past”, Rama said.
