The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has submitted formal demand for the September deployment of Leotrim Ahmeti, the 7-year-old man killed by Serb forces in 1998, in the court of the Kosovo Assembly.
The request for the September deployment of Leotrim has submitted LDK deputy Driton Selmanaj on Thursday.
“On behalf of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic League of Kosovo, we submitted the formal request to Kosovo's Parliamentary Group for the September deployment of Leotrim Ahmeti to the court of the Kosovo Assembly”, Selmanaj said today in a writing on social networks.
“Leotrim Ahmeti, the 7-year-old child was killed on September 11th 1998, by the explosion of Serbian forces grenades in the front yard of the Ahmeti family's house in Skyeraj Square, and the pieces of the grenade were dropped on the children of Shukree Ahmeti, wife of Malush Ahmeti, Kosovo witness”, he wrote.
Leotrim September, skillfully worked by sculptor Sabri Behramaj and placed in the centre of Sqaheraj, has become a symbol of the historical truth of the people of Kosovo.
“The deployment of the same September, in the court of the Kosovo Assembly, will serve as a way worthy of memorizing Kosovo's serious past and commemorating the sacrifice of about 1,000 children killed during the last war”, Selmanaj said.
Selmanaj said he has received the Ahmeti family's consent for placing the September of their late son in the court of the Kosovo Assembly.
