Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, on an international day for the elimination of sexual violence in conflict, has said Serbia has used sexual violence as a weapon of war.
Kurti has said they are committed to providing institutional support to survivors of sexual violence during the war.
In memory of the victims who have lost their lives, we bow respectfully. We honor the survivors for their strength and stamina. We engage in institutional support and justice.
His scripture:
During 1998 '99, sexual violence has been used in Kosovo as weapons of war from Serbia. This is a crime not only against the individual but against the whole society. So he left behind deep and broad consequences.
On the international day of eliminating sexual violence in conflict, we call for solidarity from families and society. It's our mutual obligation to support survivors. Be a strong voice and a strong arm. Today and forever.
In memory of the victims who have lost their lives, we bow respectfully. We honor the survivors for their strength and stamina. We engage in institutional support and justice.
Through law change, we have extended the deadline for recognition of status, the victim of sexual violence of war, until May 15th, 2025. Knowing the suffering of women and girls, men and boys who survive, we encourage them to break the silence of this war crime.
