Konjufca at the SEECP meeting in Skopje: On 24 September, fierce terrorist attack on Kosovo took place

Konjufca has said such meetings are reconfirming common commitment to boost regional co-operation, promote economic development, boost security, stability and prosperity in Southeast Europe.

Konjufca has said it has stressed that the vision for co-operation and achieving common aspirations contains, among other things, the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo from all countries in this region, so that the path of full and genuine involvement and co-operation is opened. The chief parliament says it has also cited the need to support Kosovo's aspirations for membership in international structures, including the Council of Europe, in the spirit of commitment to a region as more united about common values and goals.

“Aty stressed that the vision for co-operation and achieving common aspirations contains, among other things, the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo from all countries in this region, so that the path of full and genuine involvement and co-operation is opened. At the same time, I noted the need to support Kosovo's aspirations for membership in international structures, including the Council of Europe, in the spirit of dedication for a region as united as regards common values and goals. This was achieved earlier with visa liberalisation for the citizens of our country, which we are grateful for and this should be repeated, in the spirit of the common future”, Conjufca said.

“In my address, I also underlined that the event of September 24th 2023, when a vicious terrorist attack was carried out against the Republic of Kosovo, following the murder of Sergeant Africa Bulnjak and the wounding of two other policemen, was a serious blow not only to co-operation, but also to regional security and stability. Therefore, that act must be condemned by all without exception, while those responsible for shelter and protection from Serbia must be brought to justice. Without these attitudes and actions, it will be difficult to achieve SEECP goals.

On the other hand, I highlighted the remarkable progress the Republic of Kosovo has made in economic and social development, democratic governance and human rights, in fighting corruption, in increasing transparency and accountability. This progress, also known by various international organizations, is a testimony to our dedication to building a lively, democratic and comprehensive society.

At the conclusion of my speech, I called on us to work together by reaffirming commitment to the principles of equality, inclusion and regional co-operation, to ensure that no member of our community is marginalised and to make sure that the Strategy for Southeast Europe 2030 fulfills its promise not to leave anyone behind and promote a region where every state can thrive. At the conclusion of the 11th plenary session work of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Southeast European Co-operation Process, we came up with a joint final declaration”, Conjufca wrote.
