Speaking of delaying Kosovo's wait on the Council of Europe, Gori recalled that on the latest Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the issue had not been put on hold by day, and that Italy was one of the countries that was in favour of delaying accession.
“During the Council of Europe's last commission, the issue was not even in order of day. Italy was one of the countries in favour of delaying accession. We believe that accession should be linked to substantial progress in forming association is one of the conditions that must be met so that Kosovo's candidacy can succeed”, Gori said in an interview for Politico.
Asked why Italy voted for the adoption of the UN Resolution for Srebrenica, the ambassador replied that Rome's position on the issue is known.
This was one of the topics of conversation between Minister Tayan and Prime Minister Vuchevic in Trieste. We listened attentively and in friendly spirit to the arguments and what the Serb side had to tell us. Our position on the resolution is known. The vote is a fact, now we look further with the aim of maintaining co-operation and stability in the region”, Gori said.
