Gervailla: Committee of Ministers to Meeting and Vote Kosovo's Membership in Council of Europe

Kosovo Foreign Minister Donika Grovalla during a meeting with Council of Europe Committee of Ministers Gabrielius Landsbergis, with whom she has talked about Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe (KiE).

Gervala, who is participating in the EU foreign ministers' meeting in Luxembourg during the meeting with Landsbergis, who is also the minister of foreign affairs of Lithuania, has said Kosovo has met all conditions for membership in the KiE.

“The conclusion of the process of full membership of the Republic of Kosovo in the Council of Europe following the 82% support of the vote the General Assembly gave to membership in the KiE and the strengthening of co-operation on the Euro-Atlantic road of Kosovo were the main topics of the meeting that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Grovalla had with Lithuania Foreign Affairs Minister, the president of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers Gabrielius Landbergis<1.

Furthermore, during this meeting Minister Grovalla, accompanied by Kosovo Deputy Speaker Saranda Boguyevci and Ambassador Lulzim Hiseni, congratulated Minister Landsbergis on assuming the Council of Europe presidency and expressed deep gratitude for the support Lithuania has given to the Republic of Kosovo for membership in the Council of Europe.

“Furthermore Minister Gervalla stressed that, as the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has confirmed, the Republic of Kosovo has met all the conditions for membership and offered the co-operation of Kosovo institutions in order to have the Committee of Ministers meeting as soon as possible to make the historic decision for membership of the Republic of Kosovo in the Council of Europe”, the report said.
