The minimum wage in Kosovo was one of the important topics of discussion, reportedly in an UN press release. In this case, it was stressed that Kosovo has the lowest salary in the Balkans and Europe.
“The minimum wage so low is discriminatory both for workers and for Kosovo's image as a poor country that has no economic perspective. The decision on the minimum wage of 170m was taken in 2011 by the Fiscal Economic Council (KES) and there has been no increase at all”.
The UN board calls on local businesses and foreigners operating on its economic activities in Kosovo to increase workers' services and salaries at least 10 %s from the salary base.
When we ask the Government to raise the minimum wage to 350m for all social categories, including KLA veterans, other social categories, physical security sector workers, and toh facilities and sanitation services”.
The chairman of the UN Board, Agim Sahini, said the move is a small step to prevent the escape of workers from Kosovo.
At this meeting of the Steering Board of GDP were also invited former Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and former Deputy Prime Minister Driton Selmanaj, currently deputies of the Kosovo Assembly, who informed about the Parliament's economic and political work process in Kosovo.
